Cohda Wireless, a start-up founded in 2003 and incubated out of the University of South Australia’s Institute for Telecommunications Research, is demonstrating a high-speed mobile broadband solution for urban environments.

A trial deployment of Cohda’s mobile broadband wireless solution, that was rolled out Monday in Adelaide, Australia, showcased impressive real-time applications, including streaming full motion video from cameras inside moving vehicles, VoIP teleconferencing, and integrated vehicle location tracking.

In a press release announcing the new technology, Cohda claims it “is able to accomplish this with significantly fewer access points deployed in Non Line-of-Sight (NLOS) conditions compared to today’s municipal broadband wireless networks, which typically require line-of-sight between nodes.”
