The initial deployment of New Jersey’s fourth largest city, Elizabeth, is now live. The initial deployment of Elizabeth, New Jersey’s free municipal Wi-Fi network, covering the downtown business district as well as the historic midtown of New Jersey’s fourth largest city, is now live.
The network was designed by WavHost and employs a Nortel wireless mesh product deployed via traffic lights. In addition to providing free services to the citizenry, the network offers service to more than 5,000 rail commuters who pass through the city each day. The network is offered through a public-private partnership involving the city, Kean University, the County of Union, WavHost and Nortel.
