Many new projects included telephony and HDTV services in the packages offered to customers.
Because new entrants typically fall outside the scope of general market research studies, this detailed overview of the Dutch FTTH market is a first of its kind. Incumbent copper and CATV-networks have conducted trials on a limited scale so far. Announced network extension plans for the period 2007-2009 indicate further growth towards 377,000 homes to be connected in 2007 and 579,000 by 2009.
Incumbents with coax and copper networks are currently devising counter strategies to fend off new entries, while serving growing demand for high bandwidth services with a mixture of upgrades to VDSL, DOCSIS 3.0 and piecemeal FTTH deployments in new construction (greenfield) areas. This may add 225,000 additional FTTH lines in 2009.

Stratix intends to keep providing regular updates on the Dutch FTTH market in the future.
