The city of Paris has selected a consortium composed of SFR and Alcatel-Lucent to roll out and manage its 400 public Wi-Fi hotspot network. Alcatel will deploy the network; SFR will run it. Among the other bidders were Meteor Networks (a Paris-based company), NeufCegetel/TDF and Orange. The city of Paris issued an RFP for 400 access points in public areas last fall.
