Vermont Gov. Jim Douglas says his state’s initiative to achieve universal broadband access by 2010 “will form the platform for economic growth and job creation across every sector of our economy for many years to come.”Vermont Gov. Speaking at the Freedom to Connect (F2C) conference in Washington, D.C., Douglas said his e-state initiative “is a real qualitative difference from previous telecommunications objectives.”

“We would be the first state where every community redefines civic involvement with local blogs, online forums and real local content. The first state where every classroom has its own wiki and every student can access the library at Oxford, tour the Louvre or converse with a peer halfway around the world — all from their rural home in the mountains of Vermont.”

    It’s now 2010 and where is broadband in Jamaica, VT. No boradband, no DSL nuthin but dialup. This is a joke. 2 miles from Stratton Mountain and in the 18th century
