San Marcos, Texas, plans to build a wireless cloud over the city to streamline the meter-reading process and enhance public safety services.San Marcos, Texas, plans to build a wireless cloud over the city to streamline the meter-reading process and enhance public safety services.

In a city press release, Mayor Susan Narvaiz said”we want to establish a public-private partnership that will create a network for wireless Internet access for the people of San Marcos. This network will not only help us provide city government services more efficiently, but also bring broadband to all the citizens of San Marcos.”

The city is working with the Austin consulting firm, MetroNetIQ and plans to schedule a series of public meetings on the project this spring before issuing an RFP this summer.
