Steve Alexander of the Minneapolis StarTribune writes that the city’s municipal wireless network “works well‚Äö?Ñ?Æwhere it exists.”
Alexander went on a test tour of the city after the network went live last week but found that he was able to connect at only four of 25 locations that should have had service. In five others, he says, he received a signal so weak he could not connect.
The network is being deployed by US Internet of Minnetonka, a suburb of Minneapolis which “conceded that it’s running a few days behind schedule.”
According to Kurt Lange, US Internet’s vice president of operations and customer service, “we’ve brought on additional installation crews, so we aren’t going to fall behind schedule.”
