The carrier-class network will cover 700 square miles including a 40 mile Wi-Fi area.
The network will deliver service and applications to first responders and schools and county offices, as well as businesses and residences.
“Instead of going with an RFP, we’re doing a government lease on the entire project designed exactly to what we want.,” Brian Feist, Cambria County’s Director of Emergency Services, said in a recent interview.
The deployment will upgrade the area’s 911 system and bring the county into compliance with an FCC mandate. Service to businesses and residents will be offered on a paid-subscription basis.
