As the entire world seemingly awaits the iPhone’s June 29 launch, Dell has planned a press conference to unveil a family of broadband devices on June 26. Here’s a hint at what’s to come from the direct PC giant.

According to a teaser for the event, Dell will announce several new products that “deliver hi-def entertainment experience, true mobility with broadband connectivity anywhere, and style and self expression.”

Wow. It almost sounds like Apple’s PR department wrote that little nugget of info. And for good reason. Dell has spent recent months trying to improve its branding, having hired its first chief marketing officer in April.

Although the new Dell devices will target consumers, municipal leaders should watch Dell’s moves closely. The company recently developed rugged laptops for mobile government employees and other vertical markets. It’s a safe bet that Dell’s consumer broadband technologies will find their way into Dell’s corporate devices.

One side note: Curiously, Ron Garriques isn’t mentioned in the event teaser from Dell. Garriques is the former Motorola exec who in February jumped to Dell as president of the company’s global consumer division.

Dell’s PR team claims this is a huge product launch for the company. If so, you’d think Garriques would be on hand…
