The network is operated by , which sponsors some 1500 other free Wi-Fi networks throughout Europe, in partnership with MeshHopper, an infrastructure firm and service provider.
Users of the free service, called Online-4-Free, must agree to tolerate download speeds of 256 Kbps and 15 to 30 seconds of commercial interruption every 15 minutes or upgrade to MeshHopper’s faster (500 Kbps), ad-free paid service for 2.95 pounds (about $6) per hour or 9.95 pounds (about $20) per month.
This is Free-hotspot.com’s largest free network. It is expected to grow and cover 22.3 miles by the end of this month. London has become quite the connected city. British Telecom and The Cloud operate commercial networks there.
