Which states top the list in mobile and wireless spending?

The report, Technology Investment Curve, tracks state and local government spending over the last four years and highlights practices in leading states. The total state and local information technology market in the United States is $55 billion, according to CDW-G.

The study encompassed all 50 states, more than 100,000 products and 1,000 manufacturers of notebook computers, non-wireless handhelds and wireless communications devices. Utah and Wisconsin led all other states in investments in those categories. Rhode Island and Ohio led in investments in 802.11 wireless technologies.

CDW looked specifically at states that made early investment in mobile technologies and, though interviews with local and state officials, found the following business drivers: public safety initiatives, an interesting in increasing productivity and cross-agency information sharing, and service delivery to residents and businesses.
