Research, funded in part by the Cornwall Agricultural Council Development Team, found that 44 percent of farmers in the county have broadband technology, thanks to an initiative that offers farmers rebates on broadband services and tailored instruction on how farmers can make use of it to boost profits and become more efficient.
actnow Broadband Cornwall, a non-profit partnership, has been working with farmers in the county to spearhead economic growth through the use of broadband.
Farmers cite online banking and purchasing and e-mail communications with customers among the advantages they have reaped. About 21 percent have launched their own web sites.
