Canada is making an admirable commitment to broadband expansion in its provinces. The government plans to make as much as $20.65 million available to construct a satellite infrastructure to bring broadband to 43 communities in northern Quebec, Ontario and Manitoba.Canada plans to make as much as $20.65 million available to construct a satellite infrastructure to bring broadband to 43 communities in northern Quebec, Ontario and Manitoba.
The initiative is designed to bring connectivity to remote areas to promote economic development and bring e-health and tele-eduation services to indigenous populations.The grants are expected to cover about 75 percent of the estimated $27.5 million needed to deploy two satellite transponders with earth stations and to upgrade local access networks.
