Summary: The Special Areas Board* is a unique rural municipal area covering approximately 5 million acres in southeastern Alberta. The Special Areas Board is responsible for the administration of the area as it relates to providing all municipal services as well as the leasing of public lands within the area. Nortel supplied WiMAX technology and expertise to deliver a fixed broadband solution into an area of roughly 8,000 square miles.
