The Mobile Government suite of products, applications and services includes enhancements that integrate video security, radio interoperability, and high-speed roaming capabilities with Cisco’s 3200 Series of wireless and mobile routers, as well as enhanced interoperability with 4.9 Ghz solutions in the licensed band and collaborative applications that integrate with other essential city services, including hazardous materials tracking, emergency dispatch, fire and safety inspections, facility management, electronic traffic citations, building inspections and permits, environmental code enforcement, and sewer repair and maintenance.
Cisco’s press release for the announcement cites our own 2006 State of the Market Report in projecting that the market for mobile applications in the public sector will grow approximately 100 percent per year and that global spending among munis will rise from $802 million in 2005 to $8.6 billion in 2010.
