Boingo takes over Sprint’s airport Wi-Fi networks
Boingo Wireless Inc. has assumed operations of seven airport Wi-Fi networks previously operated by Sprint, expanding its network of airport hot spot services to 23.Boingo Wireless Inc. has taken over operations of seven airport Wi-Fi networks previously operated by Sprint. The seven airports include: both the William P. Hobby and the George Bush Intercontinental airports in Houston, Texas; Memphis International in Tennessee; General Mitchell International in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Oakland International in California; Louisville’s International-Standifer Field in Kentucky; and Salt Lake City International in Utah.
Sprint customers will contunue to receive access to the networks, as well as to the 16 other airport networks operated by Boingo and to Boingo’s global Wi-Fi network of more than 100,000 hotspots. As part of the deal, Boingo is also lowering its daily access rate to $7.95 at the airport locations and is upgrading bandwidth at a number of sites to better accommodate business customers.
