RoamAD supplies the industry’s most flexible, functional and upgradeable converged wireless networks. RoamAD networks are scalable and, with fast hand-off and low latency attributes, are optimized to support mobile VoIP/VoWiFi as well as mobile broadband data access.
RoamAD has proven experience in the metro Wi-Fi market and is the leader in support for high-speed mobile VoIP/VoWiFi. The world’s first metro Wi-Fi network was deployed by RoamAD in Auckland, New Zealand, and the world’s first highway Wi-Fi corridor was deployed utilizing RoamAD’s technology on the I-19 in Arizona, USA.
RoamAD supplies its solution to ISPs, municipalities, carriers, campuses, and ports for converged wireless networks such as:
- Citywide and municipal Wi-Fi networks
- Public safety networks
- Campus and port Wi-Fi networks
- Rail/highway Wi-Fi corridors
- Surveillance/CCTV/AMR networks
- Wireless backhaul
RoamAD’s radio-agnostic, software-based platform supports up to four radios per node in any combination for 802.11a/b/g and public safety networking. The frequency bands supported are 900 MHz, 2.4 GHz, 4.9 GHz, and 5 GHz. Upcoming releases will include support for 802.11n MIMO.
Software-Based Approach
RoamAD is unique among the major mesh vendors as it has unbundled its wireless networking software platform from the multi-radio node hardware.
The company has developed a standard hardware assembly design for multi-radio wireless nodes.
RoamAD’s hardware assembly design is fast becoming the standard, and is now used by the industry in general as well as by RoamAD’s OEM partners and contract manufacturers for supply to RoamAD distributors and systems integration partners.
RoamAD’s open-architecture hardware approach and modular hardware design allows its customers and partners to take advantage of the fact that many Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi node components have standardized and commoditized.
The hardware design also allows for easy and modular upgradeability of new radios and radio standards when they emerge, without the need to replace core infrastructure.
RoamAD is therefore able to concentrate on continuing to deliver and enhance its highly-flexible, remotely-upgradeable software platform, while its contract manufacturer and OEM partners take care of the hardware.

OEM Licensing
RoamAD also licenses its wireless networking software platform to third parties/OEMs. This enables device vendors, AP manufacturers, OEMs and ODMs to leverage RoamAD’s technology platform, leadership and expertise to jump-start their own capability development or create their own product offering.
Products
RoamAD’s wireless networking software platform comprises intelligent network node software, gateway server software, and network controller software, all which is administered via RoamAD’s web-based management interface called RAMP.
