India’s smallest state intends to become one of its most connected. Goa has announced plans to build a broadband network that enable it “to be efficient and accountable with a global thinking approach.”
The state’s prime minister, Manmohan Singh, announced the Goa Broadband Network (GBBN, also called Goa Net) last week. It is designed to provide connectivity to 280 government state and municipal offices. According to a report from the Indo-Asia News service, it will be built as a public-private partnership but details were sketchy.
