Election 2008: Technology issues

As Iowa voters caucus and the United States looks forward to a year of contentious primaries leading up to November’s presidential election, C/Net’s News.com has produced a helpful guide to clarify the presidential candidates’ positions on technology issues.

The guide links to a series of stories based on the candidates’ responses to a questionairre that C/Net sent to them. Sadly, quite a few chose not to respond. According to C/Net, “Republicans Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Rudy Giuliani, and Fred Thompson rebuffed our requests, as did Democrats Joe Biden and Bill Richardson. In all such cases, we made repeated efforts to try to convince them to change their minds.”

The responses of the others–Sen. Hillary Clinton, former Sen. Chris Dodd, former Sen. John Edwards, Sen. John McCain, Sen. Barack Obama, and Rep. Ron Paul–make for interesting and enlightening reading. To date, the full responses from all but Edwards and Dodd are online. C/Net promises to post the other two by Monday.
