Site Overview

Welcome to the newly redesigned MuniWireless.com Web site – the leading information source on the municipal wireless broadband market. Since the launch of the site in 2003, MuniWireless.com has provided news, insight and resources to help both buyers and sellers of products and services learn, discuss and do business.

Our new site design is intended to help you find valuable information faster and easier. To do that, we’ve organized the site into four major sections:

  1. Applications: This is the lifeblood of the municipal wireless market – where successful projects are conceived, developed and launched. This section discusses how networks are being utilized for the good of local communities, including such vital applications as public safety, video surveillance, automated meter reading, traffic management and others.
  2. Technologies: Here we track the newest developments in hardware and software components that are the foundation of wireless solutions, including mesh, Wi-Fi, WiMAX, wireless devices, CPE, sensors and more. This section focuses upon how the technologies are being used in actual deployments, as well as on emerging technologies that may change the rules of the game for manufacturers, service providers and systems integrators.
  3. Initiatives: Understanding where projects are succeeding – and why – is crucial to the market’s success. You’ll read about actual deployments in their various stages of implementation, from initial plans and RFPs to infrastructure build-out and ongoing management. We cover what’s working, what isn’t and why, and we provide help to municipalities, service providers and others in the form of a comprehensive Buyers Guide, a representative Hot List of successful projects, and valuable tips on Funding Options.
  4. Resources: To help you learn more about the market ecosystem, we’ve aggregated a wide variety of information on suppliers, customers and the market itself. Podcasts, Webcasts, White Papers and Company Profiles help you learn about manufacturers and suppliers building networks for municipalities, while our library of Market Research – available for purchase online – provides important insight into the market’s direction.

Of course, the heart of MuniWireless.com remains our daily coverage of breaking news and industry trends. To help the municipal wireless community create better dialogues, we’ve moved to the industry-standard WordPress blogging platform; if you’re not already familiar with the WordPress platform, you’ll find it extremely easy and intuitive to post comments or reply to others.

We hope you find our new site design useful and easy to navigate. Please be sure to let us know what you think about the site, and how we can make it – and all our MuniWireless information products, including conferences, Webcasts, research and seminars – even more valuable to you.
