Wi-Fi cameras track London speed devils

The city of London has been making life difficult for motorists in the past few years and for good reason. The mayor instituted a “congestion charge”, a fee that people driving into London have to pay for the privilege of accessing this traffic clogged city. Now, the city is going after speeding motorists via Wi-Fi cameras which, unlike the old cameras, communicate with one another so that they track a car as it goes down the street. They measure average speed, making it hard for people to cheat by simply braking when they see a camera. The city is testing 34 cameras installed along 5 miles of the A13 between Canning Town and the Gorsebrook interchange.
