Vint Cerf, “father” of the Internet, supports municipal broadband

Vint Cerf, known as one of the fathers of the Internet, has come out in support of municipal broadband networks. He says:

Municipal broadband networks could help boost the availability of high-speed Internet access and even help to ensure Net neutrality in the U.S., said Vint Cerf, vice president and chief Internet evangelist at Google. . . . Cerf spoke at a lunch in Seattle, a city that is investigating the possibility of building its own broadband network.

AT&T sees big boost for 3G speeds

AT&T says its 3G data network could reach download speeds of 20 Mbps by 2009, according to a report from AppleInsider Wednesday.
