The rumors have been swirling for months about Apple releasing a 3G iPhone. It’s finally here. Steve Jobs made the announcement today at the annual Apple Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco. Among the most significant features of the new iPhone:
- it’s $199, instead of $399, unfortunately you have to sign a 2-year contract with the cellular operator
- uses 3G (necessary if Apple wants to sell it in Europe and Asia)
- has GPS and live tracking, which uses cell towers and Wi-Fi nodes to track your location
- lots of new applications available thanks to the release of the SDK
- Microsoft Exchange support (they’re going after the enterprise)
It will be available in 70 countries.
