ConnectKentucky’s incumbent-centric model cannot meet US broadband needs

I hate to resurrect old posts but I’ll make an exception here. This week the Wall Street Journal wrote a very flattering article about ConnectKentucky’s existing plan to bring broadband to Kentucky. Arezzo, Italy sets up muni Wi-Fi network with FON

Arezzo, Italy is working with FON to bring municipal Wi-Fi service across the city. Arezzo will install FON in strategic locations and encourage people to share their connections. Visitors and locals who are not Foneros can still access the network for free (for 15 min) by watching a 15 second ad or they can buy a daily pass for 3 Euros.

Reasons not to get the iPhone

I have been thinking of getting the new 3G iPhone, but refuse to stand in line with the rest of the Apple fanboys and fangirls. Today my resistance nearly broke down until I read an article by Susan Hanley about why she returned the iPhone after only six days.
