Minneapolis to complete citywide Wi-Fi network in spring 2009

As you all know, Minneapolis’s citywide Wi-Fi network is not exactly “citywide”. A few areas are taking much longer to unwire. One such neighborhood is Prospect Park, which will get Wi-Fi access by March 2009. US Internet, the service provider who runs Minneapolis’s network, has also released some interesting statistics about their subscribers:

USI wireless currently has 11,000 paid subscribers to the network that offers one, three and six megabyte packages. USI’s customer service director, Sam Turner, estimated that 2,000 of those subscribers have University e-mail addresses.
