Novarum tests 3G in 13 US cities: AT&T has fastest upload speed

Novarum tested major 3G services in 13 American cities, including New York, San Francisco, and Chicago, for PC World. The test results reveal that “Verizon’s service showed a combination of speed and reliability, Sprint’s results lent credence to its ‘most dependable’ claim, and AT&T’s network showed fast upload speeds in most cities.” Surprisingly, the number of bars on your phone do not indicate the quality of the connection. Comcast ready to resell Clearwire’s WiMAX

In news announcements today cable giant Comcast announced that it would start reselling Clearwire’s WiMax services, a business move they promised earlier this year.

From the press release, the main pricing plan for the service (which they are calling Comcast High-Speed 2go™) is a combo of wired cable broadband and local Clearwire WiMax for $49.99, or cable plus a hybrid 3G/4G card for $69.99:

Massachusetts issues RFP seeking consultants for broadband deployment

The Massachusetts Technology Collaborative has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Consulting Services for Initial Engagement with Private Sector Participants (No.2009- MBI-01) on behalf of the Massachusetts Broadband Institute. NTIA waives Buy American rules in broadband stimulus package

Not very patriotic, is it, especially during the week of the Fourth of July? The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), the agency charged with administering the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP), known to most people as the broadband stimulus package, has granted a limited exception to the Buy American provisions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) for certain types of equipment required in broadband deployments.

Webpass delivers over 50 Mbps down, 47 Mbps up in San Francisco

ARCEP regulates fiber local loop to stimulate FTTH investment in France
