Google and Virgin America provide free WiFi on holiday flights

Google and Virgin America will be providing passengers with free Wi-Fi between 1o November 2009 and 15 January 2010. To find out more about this holiday giveaway, go to www.freeholidaywifi.com. I wonder whether the other airlines will follow. I’ve flown on Virgin America but that was before they began providing Wi-Fi in all of their domestic flights. If you are going overseas, I understand that Lufthansa will be resuming their in-flight Wi-Fi service. Lufthansa and SAS used to have Wi-Fi courtesy of Boeing Connexion, but Boeing closed down that business unit a few years ago. Now, it appears, the airlines are gearing up again to provide Wi-Fi to passengers.

With wifi internet now being provided on flights, do you think companies will start expecting employees to be more productive with their time spent during flights, especially if the company is paying for the flight?
