Good morning everyone,
There is no current thread on Haiti, but I was at a get together last night in Miami, and I was speaking to a wireless engineer who maybe going to Haiti with Miami Dade County's IT and SAR Teams. Their plan is to provide ubiquitous coverage with PtP, PtMP, and Mesh Motorola gear! Pretty cool that they will be using all the wireless technologies to provide voice, video, Internet, and command and control VoIP inter-communications.
Pretty cool and seriously...that would provide the communications that the people on the ground in the private sector, volunteers, and displaced civilians with a contact back home and access to "lists" of displaced people.

GOD BLESS AMERICA
GOD BLESS THE PEOPLE OF HAITI...and GOD BLESS MIAMI DADE COUNTY!

A very old post (from 2006) on Muniwireless says that IBM won the bid to install the network and that they are using Tropos access points.

I do not know if this is still accurate. If anyone knows, please let us know.

Any idea on the technology being used. Would be great to see some of their metrics on usage and performance.
