Appleton, Wisc’s consultant gives thumbs up to Wi-Fi corridor

A consultant’s report on a proposed pilot project for a muni wireless network that would serve both government and schools in Appleton, Wisc.,  is in and the recommendation is positive. Scott Akrie, president of NetLogix, delivered his report this week on a proposed wireless corridor to Wisconsin’s Interactive Network of the Fox Cities, (Infocis). Colorado muni initiative’s future rests on investment

The Wi-Fi future of ten Colorado suburbs, including Boulder, rests in the hands of willing investors, according to C-Com Affinity Telecom, the company that won the contract to deploy the service.

The company beat six other providers in competition to build a test network that could be the precursor for a regional network that would bring low-cost broadband access to the 10 cities.
