Worldmax launches WiMAX service in Amsterdam

Worldmax, a Dutch WiMAX service provider, has launched in Amsterdam, offering 30 EUR per month WiMAX service in the city. Worldmax is a joint venture of Intel Capital and Enertel Holding, which bought the license to the 3.5 GHz spectrum in 2003. Enertel is a Dutch telecommunications company.

Details about Philadelphia wireless network takeover

A group of investors has bought EarthLink’s Philadelphia municipal wireless network. Among the investors are Mark Rupp and Derek Pew, executives at Boathouse Communications Partners, an investment firm, and Richard Rasansky, a local entrepreneur.. Update on Michigan muni Wi-Fi projects: wireless Oakland county and others delayed

The Detroit Free Press posted a good summary of city and county wireless projects in Michigan: Wireless Oakland county, one of the most publicized countywide wireless projects, has a running pilot program, but the county has delayed the expansion of the network throughout its jurisdiction. Aurora, Illinois free Wi-Fi network to shut down

MetroFi will be shutting down its Wi-Fi network in Aurora, Illinois because the city will not pay any money for the expansion of the network. MetroFi was asking the city for $3.5 million. Lack of fiber backhaul delays Sprint’s WiMAX launch
