Map of mobile WiMAX service around the world
This is a map of mobile (or nomadic) WiMAX service around the world. By “mobile” or nomadic WiMAX, I mean you can use the network with only a USB dongle. The cities marked in green have WiMAX service; yellow means service will be available very soon.
Most WiMAX service is “fixed wireless” (an oxymoron), which means you need a modem. So it’s not optimal for travelers. The best example of “mobile” WiMAX service is WorldMax’s Aerea in Amsterdam: you can purchase a day pass for 6 EUR.
