The MuniWireless Marketer, Volume 1, Issue 2
One down, two to go. We just finished our first 2007 conference in Dallas and it was a huge success. There were more than 400 attendees, representatives from more than 90 municipalities and a reprise of the industry excitement we first saw in 2005. Municipalities in the U.S. have shifted gears: It’s no longer "What is muniwireless?” Now, it’s "How do I get my community started?”
We have two more major conferences scheduled in the U.S. this year, in Boston (Amy’s hometown) June 3-5 and Santa Clara Oct. 22-24. Exhibits for both events are selling out, so if you’re interested please let us know ASAP. We’ve got a couple of new programs we’ll be announcing in the next week or so, including a systems integrator panel and a live demo area for vendors and service providers to showcase applications.
In addition, we’ve started planning our first events outside the U.S. In early April we’re doing a Salon in Amsterdam, hosted by founder Esme Vos, and we’ll be doing similar small-scale events in London and Munich. In November we’re doing a 1-1/2 day conference in Amsterdam. Sometime this winter we’ll also be partnering on an event in Beijing. If you’re interested in getting involved with any of these programs, please let us know.
Last week, on March 13, we hosted our first Web seminar of 2007. The focus was public safety and we had more than 290 registrants and 170 live participants. Firetide was the sponsor and they’re still dealing with the overflow of questions. As part of the sponsorship program, Firetide has received contact information on the participants and is following up on their questions. They’ll also receive contact information on the municipalities that will be downloading the seminar over the next three months.
We also came out with our first issue of MuniWireless Magazine at the Dallas conference, and we’ve already received feedback from several people saying it’s our best one yet. The next issue will feature articles on WiMAX, voice over IP and new business models. We’re also planning some editorially adjacent advertising opportunities with some custom edit. Contact us for details.
Finally, we’re happy to announce that we’ve just hired a new sales assistant, Angela Lin, who is based in our New York office and will be working with sponsors on getting materials for the magazine, Web site and conferences. We’re sure you’ll enjoy working with her.
That’s all for now. If not before, we’ll see you in Boston in June. – Amy and NancyAmy Katz, VP Sales, (978) 921-1112, amy@muniwireless.com
