Excessive data roaming charges, lack of transparency hurt adoption of mobile data plans

A study carried out for the European Commission reveals that Europeans are shocked by the extremely high charges they incur when they use their mobile phones and laptops for data access outside their home countries. Tell the EU what you think about the cellular roaming rates

Here’s your chance to tell the European Commission what you think about the recent EU rules requiring mobile phone operators to lower their roaming rates. The Commission has launched a public consultation and invites everyone to comment by 2 July 2008. Among the other issues they want you to address are:

EU endorses open standard for mobile TV

The EU is promoting the adoption of DVB-H as the single standard for mobile TV. DVB-H is considered to be an open standard unlike Qualcomm’s MediaFLO.
