Hong Kong rolls out free Wi-Fi service

Hong Kong will be providing free Wi-Fi service in 2000 hotspots serving 350 government buildings, sports and recreational centers, and three public parks. The local government is working with telecommunications provider, PCCW and equipment provider, Aruba Networks, to offer the service to residents and visitors. The project is called GovWiFi and will take five years to complete. The doom and gloom associated with public Wi-Fi access apparently stops at the Pacific Ocean’s edge, right by California. The Hongkong Legislative Council has approved a plan to make free Internet access available via Wi-Fi in government spaces.
