HTC forges deal with China Mobile for TD handsets, but ZTE set to remain on top in 3G handset market

This week, Taiwanese handset manufacturer HTC signed a deal with China Mobile to supply TD-SCDMA handsets for the leading Chinese carrier, according to FT.com. More precisely, HTC will supply one TD-SCDMA device this year and five next year. Both companies also agreed to collaborate together on future deployments (e.g. TD-LTE handsets, market research). Of note, China Mobile plans to roll out 100 new 3G devices by the end of 2009.

Devicescape releases latest version of Easy Wi-Fi, signs deals with HTC, Fujitsu and DeFi Mobile

Devicescape has just released the latest version of Easy Wi-Fi, its connection manager (formerly known as Devicescape Connect). Easy Wi-Fi is available for Windows PCs, Macs, smartphones and other types of portable devices (e.g. for gaming). WiMax Handset the Iceberg’s Tip for Devices?

Despite all the hand-wringing there seems to be going on about the supposed lack of WiMax devices, or the supposed closed nature of WiMax networks, it doesn’t seem like device manufacturers have gotten the memo. Instead, we’re seeing more WiMax devices emerge every day, with more (reportedly) on the way.

(And yes, that parade of laptops with WiMax embedded inside that we talked about earlier is already marching down the street. Told ya so!)
