Gloucester County, NJ puts wireless plans on hold

I gave an interview last week for this article about Gloucester County, New Jersey’s decision to postpone their plan (indefinitely) to deploy a wireless network across the county. By now, it’s no surprise that several cities and counties have either abandoned their plans completely or are changing them to meet more targeted goals. Still, some cities such as Minneapolis and Riverside are going ahead with their networks.

NJ city plans to cover itself with a wireless canopy

Perth Amboy, a city in northern New Jersey just across from New York City’s Staten Island, has struck a deal to take the town wireless in an effort to economize on the delivery of city services, according to a story in the Home News Tribune. The city will be working with a local integration firm known as the Breaker Group.
