Wi-Fi now available on Swedish buses

Swebus, a long-distance bus operator in Sweden, is now offering Wi-Fi access to its passengers. Swebus has over 80 buses and transports two million passengers every year. According to the press release, this Wi-Fi deployment is the largest in Scandinavia since it will be available in buses that go to Norway and Denmark. Swedish bus passengers get free Wi-Fi with commute

Bus passengers in Stockholm, Sweden, can now access the Internet and receive  real-time travel information and video of  breaking news on the hour-long bus commute to Norrtalje. Passengers on route 676 will receive the wireless applications as part of a pilot project being deployed by Nomad, Capgemini Sweden, Intel, MobileCity, Pilotfish and Solutrea for  Storstockholms Lokaltrafik, SL, the city’s public transit authority. Veolia Transport has deployed a wireless mesh network to support operations at its Malmo, Sweden depot.Veolia Transport has deployed a wireless mesh network to support operations at its Malmo, Sweden depot.

The network, which uses a Firetide solution, is designed to simplify reporting and data exchange for fleet management and public safety.
