Free Wi-Fi service on trains in Denmark

Arriva, a train operator in Scandinavia, is offering free Wi-Fi service to passengers traveling across Denmark, starting with the trains that run between Aarhus, Thisted and Tønder in Jutland. Arriva carries more than 7 million passengers each year.

Los Gatos, Ca., unwires municipal areas

The city of Los Gatos, California has unwired its municipal network to provide seamless wireless connectivity around city facilities. The idea is to enable municipal workers to access critical city data and, at the same time, provide free Internet connectivity to the public in those areas.

NY legislator calls for investigation of state wireless public safety network

New York’s proposed state-wide public safety network has become the focus of controversy after first responders in Erie County found that a pilot operating in the county and the city of Buffalo did not meet their needs. This weekend a state legislator has called for a third-party investigation.

Naval warfare center deploys high-performance Wi-Fi mesh

BelAir Networks announced today that two of its new products that include 802.11n and support for the 4.4 Ghz frequency band are being used to deliver defense applications at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, Charleston (SSC Charleston).

According to a company press release, the two new products, the BelAir200D and BelAir100D Wireless Mesh Node for Defense Applications are customized for military applications and feature support for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna technology and other performance-enhancing features in 802.11.n.
