Paul Kapustka attended CTIA in Las Vegal this week and posted several interesting articles:
- Testing Motorola’s LTE network in Las Vegas (with video)
- Testing Clearwire’s WiMAX network (no, it’s not deployed yet throughout Las Vegas, but it will be soon)
- A first look at Samsung’s WiMAX Tablet (thank heavens, after Nokia dropped their 810 WiMAX tablet)
- Clearwire’s WiMAX-WiFi portable modem available in early April
Meanwhile, Nokia has been raining on the WiMAX parade. According to Anssi Vanjoki, Nokia head of sales and manufacturing, said at a Nokia event in San Francisco that the future isn’t too promising for WiMAX, which is heading the way of Betamax. Nokia, a member of the WiMAX forum, believes that LTE will dominate the market for mobile devices, leaving WiMAX as a niche technology.
